According to my Missouri Department of Conservation’s Natural Events Calendar, Monday, March 20 is the first day of spring, and it seems that most of us think we are ready for it! I’m not a big fan of the severe weather that often comes with it, but there sure are a lot of great things about this upcoming season.

The March Polk County Community Connections breakfast meeting is at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, March. 2, in the community room at Citizens Memorial Hospital, 1500 N. Oakland, Bolivar. A free breakfast is provided. Bolivar Mayor Chris Warwick and Polk County Clerk Rachel Lightfoot will provide education about Proposition U the sales tax issues on the April 4 ballot.

The Polk County Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, March 2. The program for the evening will be “Who Am I? The Man with Two Lives” presented by PCGS member Leta Gass. This is the story of David Dickson/E.R. Graham that Gass shared during the Living History Tour last October. This is the program originally scheduled for the January meeting but needed to be postponed due to illness.
