The Missouri and Polk County Presidential Primary will be held on March 23, from 8 a.m. to noon. Voting will take place at the Polk County Courthouse Annex 102 E. Jackson, Bolivar, Missouri. This will take place instead of a state run primary. If you are a registered Democrat, unaffiliated, Independent or Libertarian voter you may vote in this primary. Registered Republicans may not vote at this primary. You must have identification to vote such as driver’s license, utility/phone bill, voter registration card, insurance card or official document with your name and current address. If you are unable to physically enter the polling place, we can accommodate you. You may vote at this county’s polling place if you are unable to vote in your home county. If you requested a mail-in ballot and are unable to mail it back in time, we will accept it at our polling place on March 23. more
Polk County Republicans are hosting their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Thursday, April 4, beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner will be held at the McClelland Dining Facility on the campus of SBU. Local and state candidates who have filed for offices to be selected in the Primary Election on August 6, 2024, are expected to be there. This gives voters an opportunity to meet the candidates and become an informed voter. more

Makayla Methvin of Bolivar, was one of 30 high school sophomores recently selected to participate in the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA). Methvin and the other students selected will spend a week in June in the Springfield area learning about many of the unique opportunities available in agriculture. more
Open Hearts United Methodist Church, Bolivar, has announced the first $5,000 scholarship to be awarded from the Hegle Scholarship Fund established by a donation from former Bolivar businessman Weldon Hegle. more
