The Bolivar Board of Aldermen’s first November meeting was held Nov. 4, 2025, as the usual schedule conflicted with Veteran’s Day. Alderpeople Tricia Bel-Price, Justin Ballard, Dusty Ross, Ashley Raines, Alexis Neal and Brian Wilson were present; Jonathan Moores and Steve Sagasar were absent. Others present were Mayor Mike Stephens, City Administrator Thomas Relford, Attorney Don Brown, Finance Director and Deputy City Clerk Natalie Scrivner and Community Development Director Kyle Lee. more
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office today announced the conclusion of a successful prosecution, confirming that a Polk County Jury has found Lucky J. Johnson, 42, of Halfway, guilty on charges of First-Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action in connection with the 2022 death of his wife, Darrianna M. Johnson. more

The Bolivar R-I School District showed significant improved performance on the 2025 Annual Performance Report (APR), earning 171 out of 200 possible points for a score of 85.5% – the highest score the district has earned since the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP 6) launched during the 2021-2022 school year. more
