I’ve never seen 1997’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” all the way through. Eleven-year-old me was too young to see the R-rated slasher in theaters, which was just as well because I did see a trailer and lost many nights’ sleep over the killer’s deadly fishing hook. I eventually got caught up via highlights and recaps, to the point where I feel like watching the movie now would just be a redundant bore. This is all to say that I don’t have much loyalty to the original, outside of a begrudging respect for its ability to give me nightmares with something sharp. Once again, this is probably for the best, since without loyalty to the original, I don’t have to worry about betrayal on the part of the same-titled reboot. more

Now everyone has flown the coop, gone to college, got a new family - that is except us. We are Greg and Peter. And, we are sweethearts also and deserve a chance to be someone's best friend. more

They were joined by their children and grandchildren, Chuck, Lisa, Nolan, Brilee and Jake Johnson and Sarah and Jaxon Braun. Other family as well as friends, Tom and Judi Ball, their best man and guestbook attendant, were also present. more

The Polk County Humane Society received a grant for free neutering and spaying of dogs and cats. Part of the funding is being used to provide free neutering or spaying services and free rabies vaccinations to any dogs adopted from the City of Bolivar Animal Pound between now and July 31. The grant is from the Jason Heigl Foundation. Homepage - Jason Heigl FoundationJason Heigl Foundation, Polk County Humane Society is receiving $7,650 to neuter/spay 36 dogs/puppies and 66 cats/kittens. The event dates run through the month of July. The dog neuter/spays are all in Bolivar at All Creatures Animal Clinic, Animal Care Clinic, and Bolivar Pet Hospital - all of which are discounting their rates so we can afford the surgeries with grant funding. The cat neuter/spays were all done at the Sedalia Spay & Neuter Clinic. We provided the ride to Sedalia and back. more

Halfway elementary students and Youth at Good Samaritan Boys Ranch have enjoyed hands-on lessons about agriculture during enrichment programming this summer. The school and ranch partnered with Missouri Farmers Care’s Agriculture Education on the Move™ (Ag Moves) to provide students with ten foundational lessons on agriculture topics, teaching students that their food comes from farms and the products used in everyday life come from agriculture. These lessons also made a difference in the life of Ag Moves Educator, Josie Toombs, as she helped Halfway’s future consumers make connections to their food, fuel, fibers and farmers today, as well as Ag Moves Educator, Velynda Cameron, as she helped future consumers living at the ranch make these connections. more
