On Wednesday, March 6, the Polk County 4-H Council officers, Polk and Hickory County club officers and 4-H members made a trip to the State Capital in Jefferson City. Meetings with Senator Sandy Crawford, Representative Mike Stephens, Representative Jim Kalberloh, and First Lady Teresa Parson happened throughout the day. The group began their day with a tour of the Governor’s Mansion led by First Lady Parson. After meetings with the legislators the 4-H’ers explored the Capital including the Thomas Hart Benton Room. more

Polk County Republicans are hosting their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Thursday, April 4, beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner will be held at the McClelland Dining Facility on the campus of SBU. Local and state candidates who have filed for offices to be selected in the Primary Election on August 6, 2024, are expected to be there. This gives voters an opportunity to meet the candidates and become an informed voter. more

Citizens Memorial Hospital’s new Community Rooms at LimeBank are now open and available for reservations. The Community Rooms at the hospital closed March 1 in preparation for the hospital expansion construction. more

Citizens Memorial Hospice will host bereavement support group classes starting Tuesday, March 5, at 9 a.m. at Lime Bank, CMH Community Room 2, 1630 S. Killingsworth Ave., in Bolivar. more

Sew ‘N’ Sew Quilt Guild will meet Friday, March 15, at the United Methodist Church, 105 E. Division Street, Bolivar. Please come to the east entrance into the fellowship hall.
