As a child, I kept my hands clenched in my lap instead of raising them to answer a teacher’s question. As a teen, my hands worked as a waitress. As a college student, they turned pages of textbooks and counted money as a teller. As a mama, I patted babies and may have swatted the behinds of my disobedient children.

The annual Community Thanksgiving dinner at Open Hearts United Methodist Church was once again a success and helped to bring Thanksgiving to many in the community. They were proud to have served 70 dine-in meals and had between 30-40 to go orders.

If this describes your situation, we want to try and help by providing a special event called “Surviving the Holidays.” Coming up on Saturday, Nov. 4, Berean Baptist Church, 4450 Scenic Ave. in Bolivar, will be hosting “Surviving the Holidays” from 10 a.m. till noon.
