Saturday, Dec. 3, Christmas hit the streets of Bolivar. The annual Christmas parade organized by the Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce took on their second year of having a nighttime parade. Beautiful floats, excited walkers, horses and dogs, and Santa Claus all were on hand to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Helen M. Cline Overmyer, age 103, passed peacefully in her home on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022. She was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, to Vern Leo and Verl Leona Charlton Cline on April 4, 1919, and grew up in Dunkirk, Indiana.

Larry Michael Hodges of Bolivar, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Larry was born on May 23,1940 in Henderson, Texas to Wilson and Fran Hodges. In 1962 he graduated from Baylor University where became a lifelong fan of the Baylor Bears. Following graduation, Larry was the Baptist Student Union Director at Navarro Junior College while attending Southwestern Baptist Seminary.

Marsha Kaye Harms, age 71, of Bolivar entered Heaven’s gate and went to be with the Lord Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Cox South Medical Center, Springfield. She was born Oct. 14, 1951, in Seattle, Washington, to Charles Wesley and Nellie Ruth Keith Mooney. She was united in marriage to Roy Harms June 11, 1977, and to this union two “beautiful and precious-daughters” were born.
