The greens at Silo Ridge Country Club were packed with purpose on July 13 as 43 teams gathered for the annual Doug Potts BEAF Golf Classic for Kids — an event that blends friendly competition with community impact. Hosted by the Bolivar Educational Advancement Foundation (BEAF) in partnership with the Potts family, the tournament continues to grow in size and significance, raising funds for classroom grants, scholarships, and the Doug Potts Liberator Pride Scholarship, which supports students in the Bolivar R-1 School District.
“This tournament is more than just a round of golf,” said BEAF Board President Brady Vestal. “It’s a chance for our community to come together in Coach Potts’ memory to directly impact students and teachers right here at home. From alumni to local businesses, the generosity shown is incredible.”
The tournament is the largest fundraiser for the foundation each year.
“It means so much to see this event thrive,” said Brett Potts, son of Coach Doug Potts. “My dad
would be so proud — not because of the turnout, but because it’s still about helping kids. That
was always his mission.”
