The Polk County Federated Republican Women’s Club will meet Wednesday, Oct. 7 at noon
at El Rodeo Restaurant. Sophia DeHart, a senior at Halfway High School, will give a report on
Missouri Federation of Republican Women’s spring Legislative Day. DeHart was chosen to
represent the club at this event in Jefferson City.
The program will be presented by State Senator Sandy Crawford. Crawford will be honored for
her service in the state legislature in light of her upcoming term-limited retirement. Crawford
was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2010, where she served three terms.
She is the first woman elected as a state senator for the 28th district and has served there from
2018 to present. Sen. Crawford had a distinguished career in banking prior to her public
service. She has been recognized by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, Hospital Association, Cattlemen’s Association, Judicial Conference, State Fair and Bankers Association among many others.
During the 2026 legislative session, 13 of Crawford’s bills were passed and signed into law by
the governor. Crawford states that “throughout the session, my focus remained on practical
solutions to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and make government services more reliable
and accessible for Missourians.” All who have worked and collaborated with Sen. Crawford are
encouraged to attend the meeting.
The club is affiliated with the Missouri Federation of Republican Women and the National
Federation of Republican Women. Membership is open to any Polk County woman, as well as
non-voting membership to men as associate members.
