Father-and-son team Thane and Drew Kifer of Bolivar-based Pinecone Holdings announced the expansion of Flat Creek Restaurant to Bolivar, which will be built at the intersection of Boston and Aldrich in Kifer’s Vineyard development.
According to a news release, the building will be leased to owner-operators Josh Rasmussen and Alan Kram, who also own and operate Flat Creek restaurants in Republic and Cape Fair.
The new 8,700-square-foot restaurant will have over 260 seats and 146 parking spaces, including RV and truck parking, making it one of the largest restaurants in Polk County, the release stated.
The menu will be largely the same as Flat Creek’s Republic and Cape Fair locations, “focusing on all-American favorites like smoked meats, fried catfish and chicken, steaks, seafood, burgers and more,” per the release. The restaurant will also feature a full bar, a private event space for parties and celebrations, and catering services.
The release stated the interior will be decorated with local memorabilia and regional décor, adding to the destination-like experience.
Rasmussen, the release stated, anticipates that the new facility will employ up to 75 individuals, which would make it one of Bolivar’s larger employers.
“Flat Creek is known as not just a restaurant but a destination,” Gail Noggle, executive director for the Economic Development Alliance of Bolivar and Polk County, said in the release. “With its new jobs, a robust sales tax generator plus a new dining option for our citizens, this is a huge win for our community and the surrounding area.”
The building will be owned by a consortium of investors, most of which are Bolivar-area natives, per the release.
“I’m excited to help provide another amenity that Bolivar has been desiring for decades, and I’m glad to have found a way to keep some of the profits local with our local investors, not to mention the new local jobs it will create,” Thane Kifer, who also built the Best Western Plus one block from where the new restaurant will be, said in the release.
Concurrent with the new restaurant construction in Bolivar, the same investor group will also be building a Flat Creek Restaurant in Webb City. The release said the project is financed by First State Community Bank of Lebanon and designed by H Design of Springfield. A general contractor will be selected sometime in April.
Groundbreaking is expected to occur in the spring of 2022, and the restaurant plans to be open sometime in the winter of 2022 or 2023, the release stated.
