Rita Lemmon, Assessor of Polk County, announces that the board of equalization will begin meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at the office of the Polk County Commission to hear those who disagree with the values of real estate established by the assessor for tax year 2023. The board tentatively plans to conclude the hearings by 12 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023.

The Central Polk County Fire Protection District has called for a Special Tax Levy Election on August 8, 2023, for the residents within their boundaries. The County Clerk’s office will be open on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to noon. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. the day before the election, Tuesday, August 8.
